In the Studio… More than just a fitness class

“I was out recently with some of my “Pilates friends” and my stomach muscles were hurting…not from Pilates but the result of an evening of fun with friends!   Laughing so hard it makes your stomach hurt and your eyes water. It reminded me of something I had heard from Pilates elder Mary Bowen at the Pilates training I recently attended in Miami.

Mary started the seminar by saying we should all be thanking Joe and Clara. Simply stated, “How different would your life be without them?” How many of your friends and experiences would never have happened if they did not create Pilates?  It is both empowering and amazing that one person could start an exercise system that could change SO many lives over so many years. Joe was an average guy with a passion for movement and health. He was doing something he loved and sharing it with the world because he knew it could help others. Unfortunately, Joe never really had the chance to see how Pilates would continue to inspire millions of people. He followed his passion and his impact was far-reaching.

It’s hard for me to imagine what my life would be like without my Pilates friends, my studio and my Pilates experiences. I cannot even begin to count the ways that Pilates has brought incredible people and adventure into my life. In the crazy busy-ness of life it’s so easy to forget the impact you can have on just one person. By doing something simple, like being yourself and sharing things you love, you can have a profound effect on others, their life path and their well-being. Those simple moments you share, connections with others, those life experiences are really what make life fun and meaningful.

Thanks to Joe & Clara for all the ways you have impacted my life and for giving me the chance to connect with so many Pilates friends.

XO,

Gina
